dirty old man…

i don’t know what made me think of it, but when i was in japan this summer, i heard the song “dirty old man”, from the band “southern all stars”. the song was kind of catchy, and the people performing it were almost as old as my parents, but they had hot chicks dancing in hula skirts so i was cool with it all. then, the other day i stumbled on a music blog that has all sorts of wacky j-pop and j-rock stuff on it. now, i’ll be the first to tell you that there’s alot of japanese music that just doesn’t click with me. there’s something about the writing… too many chords? to much engrish? overly complex melodies? i’m really not sure, but there’s some awesomely cool stuff on this site. you can even listen to some wacky songs, or watch the awesomely beach boysish video. check it out here. also, let’s be clear:  the reason i like this song is NOT the poster for the single.

btw. i will give mad blops (and probably buy a beer) for anyone who can do the dance from the video. i throw down the gauntlet! enojy.

p.s. also on the site, is an entry for utada hikaru’s new album, and you can stream each song. i didn’t know that she had undergone cancer treatment! the song from casshearn is pretty rad, honestly.
