after i get this off of my chest, i think i’ll be off of the music kick for awhile. i keep finding myself drawn back to the band pavement, time and time again. pavement is one of those bands that worked really well because of the people in it. a marriage, if you will, of good songwriters, good musicians, and good friends. perhaps that’s why steve malkmus’ solo project disappoints me so. hell, clark, roberta, and i saw “steve malkmus and the jicks” live, opening for radiohead a few years back. all i remember was them talking in between songs about tequila and pot, and thinking to myself that it was pretty goddamned sophomoric. i can barely remember their songs… in retrospect, perhaps that accusation was a little harsh for the guy who made this video with his old band.
i’m sorry steve. i can’t stay mad at you. god bless you.
“cut your hair” off of Pavement’s “crooked rain, crooked rain”. (their finest album, imho)

I listened to Crooked Rain Crooked Rain a day or two ago. Still a very solid album. I think of it as a concept album, where the concept is to make fun of Billy Corigan’s haircut.
